Impact

We envisage that this project will have an impact within community relating to practice of physical activities that will be promoted by the knowledge and skills acquired during the hikes and the informative materials provided to each participant with exercises for maintaining physical activity also after the project expires. The result of the project would be increased knowledge of the participants about physical activities and their role in maintaining and promoting health, so they can be encouraged to participate in other social events, promoting physical activities also in the future, regardless their income and other factors they may consider as obstacle for not doing sports. As we disseminate information on territorial location with abundant natural resources that can be used for physical activities, we envisage it will encourage people to participate. The results of the project activities will be gathered from the participants by post-project survey.

Activities

The project is aimed to ensure the availability of free physical activities – hiking, including unity games and exercises with physical activity involved. Participation in the hike is available to every citizen, particularly from low-income families, regardless of their ethnic, religious, social and other groups, in thus, to promote social inclusion. It is scheduled to be organized hikes for residents in the territory of Latvia and increase the interest of people in outdoor sports. In order to achieve the goal, we plan to provide hiking once a month in one of the nature trails of the territory of Latvia. In order to provide hiking, we will provide communication with children’s and youth Daycare Centers and Social Centers for information dissemination, press releases making, preparation of informative materials and posters and necessary equipment for the implementation of the event. Hiking, including unity games and exercises will be led by professional youth educated in sport pedagogy or in other sports and medicine related fields. Hiking is scheduled throughout the year once a month. To ensure publicity, we will provide videos and photos of the hikes and publish the events on social networks.
